Greetings Friends and Family,

This April 10-30, 2018 I will be hiking in Nepal to Mt Makalu Basecamp high in the Himalayas on an expedition to support a climate change initiative involving NASA and ESA, and to support The Himalayan Stove Project.  The Himalayan Stove Project is a non-profit organization that is dear to my heart. They provide clean burning, fuel efficient cookstoves for rural and mountain families in Nepal who normally cook on open flames inside their tiny homes. On a daily basis the homes are filled with smoke and fumes from the open fires that the entire family inhales, deeply affecting their health. The new clean burning cookstoves change lives and improve a family’s well being from the moment they are installed. Plus they require much less fuel (wood, dried dung or crop waste) to operate, making them efficient on every level.

It costs $150 US to provide one (1) stove for one household, and to change the lives of the recipients. My goal is to raise $4800, two stoves for each of the 16 nights I will spend outside in a very cold (!) tent during the trek. If I meet my goal these stoves will go to 32 families! Any donated monies go fully and directly toward the stoves, as the HSP is a small organization with personal distribution from Kathmandu, Nepal.

Any amount you can donate is very appreciated generous friends.

THANK YOU! Xxoo Joanne
